Our Mission

Woodrow Community Peace Pantry is an East Dallas area nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. The Woodrow Community Peace Pantry helps supplement meals and provides healthy snacks, uniforms/shoes for our DISD students in need.

Our
Story

The Peace Pantry began in 2014 at Woodrow Wilson High School in East Dallas when a teacher noticed students coming to class hungry. What started as a single shelf of snacks quickly grew into a community movement. Today, the Peace Pantry has expanded across multiple Dallas ISD campuses, serving hundreds of students every week and inspiring neighbors, local organizations, and families to join together in service.

Each pantry operates with dignity and care — no paperwork, no questions, just help. We believe that when students’ basic needs are met, they can focus on learning, not survival. Our growth has been driven by the power of community partnerships: PTAs, local realtors, students, anonymous donors, and neighborhood businesses all contribute to keeping shelves full and spirits lifted.

Our Impact.

Every week, more than 200 Dallas ISD students receive food through the Peace Pantry — from grab-and-go snacks to full Food Bags that help supplement meals at home. During school breaks, the pantry distributes Holiday Meal Bags, ensuring that students have access to food even when school cafeterias are closed.

When students know they will have food, they come to school more consistently, participate more fully, and perform better academically.

Minimizing Food Deserts

Providing uniforms, shoes, and basic materials to make sure every student comes to school prepared to succeed.

Restoring Academic Focus

Food insecurity doesn’t just affect students; it affects entire families. By offering free access to healthy snacks, uniforms, shoes, and toiletries, the pantry reduces daily stress for parents and guardians — helping families stay stable and students stay in school.

Reducing Financial Stress

A Network of Support

Partnerships across schools and neighborhoods have transformed the pantry from a single campus project into a multi-school resource. Through ongoing food drives, fundraising events, and volunteer efforts, community members help ensure that shelves stay stocked and students never go without.
